National Families Week 2024

Celebrating Family Diversity & Connections

National Families Week 2024 is an annual celebration that brings together individuals and organisations nationwide coincides with the UN International Day of Families (15 May each year). This year marks the UN’s thirtieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family, adding an extra layer of significance to the celebration.

The theme of National Families Week 2024 is Celebrating Family Diversity & Connections which involves recognising and embracing the unique circumstances, backgrounds, and dynamics that make each family special. And finding opportunities to connect across differences including those in culture, language, gender, sexuality, ability, and age.

The aim of National Families Week is to not only celebrate the vital role that families play in Australian society, but to also reflect on the critical role that families play in teaching, supporting and nurturing children as they grow.

As the event approaches in 2024, we promise it to be a time for communities to come together, share experiences, and celebrate the diversity and strength of family life. We are looking forward to your participation! We encourage you to plan ahead for your National Families Week event.
