Dear Colleagues,
Please see below updates on Safe and Supported and the Steering Group refresh process.
Safe and Supported: The National Framework for protecting Australia’s children.
As National Coalition Convenor, I recently attended a Community Services Minister’s (CSM) meeting on 14 October 2022 where Safe and Supported was discussed. At the meeting, in-principle agreement on the first Action Plans under Safe and Supported was reached between the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Group, relevant Ministers of all jurisdictions and Minister Rishworth.
While there may be some minor changes and edits ahead of final release in December 2022, content of Safe and Supported has been agreed. Please find a link to the CSM communique here.
I will keep you posted on the release date and associated activities.
National Coalition Steering Group refresh process
In the last e-bulletin the National Coalition announced it was welcoming expressions of interest (EOI) from members who would like to be considered for appointment to the Steering Group. There was strong interest from a broad range of members with a total of thirty (30) EOIs being received by the closing date of 26 October 2022.
The EOI Assessment Panel will review all applications and aims to notify of successful appointments by the end of November 2022. The release of Safe and Supported is the intended transition date to the new steering group.
There will be several opportunities over the coming months and years for all members of the National Coalition participate in, and contribute to, the work of the Coalition. Opportunities will include participation in Safe and Supported focus area working groups, joint advocacy submissions and representation in other consultative processes across government and the sector. I will provide further details in subsequent e-bulletins.
