Consultation Paper – Seeking you views on The stronger, more diverse and independent community sector issues paper (DSS)

As you may be aware, DSS has recently released The stronger, more diverse and independent community sector issues paper. This paper encompasses funding arrangements which are relevant to many National Coalition members. DSS are seeking feedback to inform the development of recommendations on innovative approaches to grant funding that will support both short- and longer-term changes to the operation of community sector grants. Submissions close on 7 November 2023. (Click here for more information).

In response, Families Australia’s intention is to make a short submission to DSS comprised of key summary points raised by member and supporter organisations. To ensure these views are accurately represented, Families Australia will be holding an online member consultation forum on Wednesday 18 October 2023 from 2:30-3:30 pm AEDT. This forum is open to representatives of member organisations (as well as organisations engaged more broadly with Families Australia such as members of the National Coalition) who would like to share their views and contribute to the Families Australia summary paper, (whether the views expressed are instead of, or as a supplement to your own submission).

If you are interested in attending the online member consultation forum, please email Dr Bianca Williams at to receive a calendar invitation.

Alternatively, if you do not cannot attend the forum but would like to ensure that your view is captured in the Families Australia submission, you can email a succinct dot point summary of up to 500 words to Dr Bianca Williams at

If you would prefer to submit your commentary directly to DSS you can do so via the DSS Engage website.
We look forward to your participation in our consultation forum and to ensuring your views are represented to government in the Families Australia summary submission.
