A National Gathering for the Child & Family Sector

On Thursday 19 June 2025, immediately following the National Early Years Policy Summit as part of Queensland’s Out of the Box Festival, hundreds of leaders, experts, advocates, and practitioners came together in Brisbane for the Shaping Futures Symposium: The Status of Children & Young People in Australia, a powerful, one-day event dedicated to advancing child and family wellbeing.

Hosted by Families Australia and PeakCare, this national symposium brought together voices from government, community, research, and lived experience to explore the current and future status of children and young people in Australia. Through a mix of keynote presentations and interactive panel discussions, the event tackled critical issues ranging from out-of-home-care to cross generational changes and divides, including the newest Generation Alpha, and child protection.
